How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual dose is one or two 500 mg tablets. Take a new dose every 4–6 hours as needed.

Method

Dissolve the effervescent tablet in water and drink. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than 3 grams (6 tablets) of paracetamol in any 24-hour period.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergies like red or purple skin spots
  • Feeling generally unwell
  • Swelling under the skin
  • Vision problems
  • Skin rash or hives
  • Bleeding
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting)
  • Dizziness, fever
  • Feeling drowsy (sedation)
  • Liver problems (liver failure, liver cell death, yellow skin/eyes called jaundice)
  • Shaking (tremors), headache, feeling sad (depression), confusion, seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations)
  • Sweating, itching
  • Severe allergic reactions like swelling of the face, mouth, or hands, or a sudden, serious body reaction (anaphylactic shock)
  • Trouble breathing, wheezing, coughing, or shortness of breath (more common if you have asthma)
  • Low numbers of blood cells that help stop bleeding (platelets), or low numbers of white blood cells that fight infection
  • Breakdown of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia)
  • Low blood sugar
  • Cloudy pee, kidney problems, blood in your pee, or not being able to pee
  • Very serious skin reactions (like Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis, Erythema Multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Fluid building up in your throat
  • Stomach ulcers and bleeding in your stomach or gut
  • Feeling restless
  • Metabolic acidosis (when your blood becomes too acidic, causing severe breathing problems, drowsiness, nausea, and vomiting)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredients in it.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, including those caused by drinking too much alcohol, or kidney problems.
  • Do not take other medicines that contain paracetamol.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose.
  • The cap contains a drying agent. Do not eat it.

  • If pain lasts more than 5 days, or fever lasts more than 3 days, or if symptoms get worse, stop treatment and see a doctor.
  • If you take too much, contact a doctor or poison control immediately, even if you feel well, due to the risk of severe, delayed liver damage.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
