How to Use

Dosage

1 suppository.

Method

Insert one Paraceon suppository deep into the rectum immediately after a bowel movement. You can warm the suppository in your hand or immerse it in warm water for a short time to make it easier to insert.

Important

Maximum 3 times a day. There must be at least 6 hours between doses, and you should not use more than three 1 g suppositories per day. Do not take more than recommended.

  • Allergic reactions (like swelling, trouble breathing, sweating, feeling sick, low blood pressure, shock)
  • Fewer blood cells
  • Liver problems
  • Asthma attacks (if you usually get them)
  • Very serious allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
  • Allergic swelling of the skin
  • Other skin rashes
  • Severe skin reactions (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • A serious condition called metabolic acidosis (blood becomes too acidic) in very sick patients using paracetamol
  • Liver damage from taking too much paracetamol for a long time.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if your liver doesn't work well (e.g., due to liver inflammation, heavy drinking, or Gilbert's syndrome).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have or have had kidney problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart failure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you start using Paraceon suppositories right after drinking a lot of alcohol.

  • Talk to your doctor if you are using other medicines with paracetamol for fever, pain, or flu symptoms.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are underweight or not getting enough nutrients.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have severe illnesses (like bad kidney failure or sepsis), don't eat enough, drink alcohol often, or are taking flucloxacillin, as these can cause a serious condition called metabolic acidosis.
  • Do not use other pain medicines at the same time unless your doctor tells you to.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose, as too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
