How to Use

Dosage

Usually one 40 mg vial per day for stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and reflux esophagitis. For long-term treatment of conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (where the stomach makes too much acid), it's usually two 40 mg vials (80 mg) per day. Your doctor may change your dose.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein by a doctor or nurse, over 2 to 15 minutes.

Important

The doctor might temporarily prescribe more than 160 mg (four 40 mg vials) per day if needed. For severe liver problems, the maximum daily dose is 20 mg (half a vial).

  • Swelling in arms and legs (peripheral edema)
  • Allergic reactions
  • Depression
  • Enlarged breasts in men (gynecomastia)
  • Feeling disoriented
  • Hallucinations
  • Confusion (especially if previously experienced)
  • Tingling, prickling, burning sensation, or numbness
  • Rash possibly with joint pain
  • Colon inflammation causing persistent watery diarrhea
  • Increased bilirubin (from blood tests)
  • Increased blood fat levels (from blood tests)
  • Significantly decreased granulocytes (a type of white blood cell) with high fever (from blood tests)
  • Decreased platelets, causing easier bleeding or bruising (from blood tests)
  • Decreased white blood cells, causing more infections (from blood tests)
  • Simultaneous decrease in red and white blood cells and platelets (from blood tests)
  • Low levels of sodium, magnesium, calcium, or potassium in the blood (from blood tests)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to pantoprazole or other similar medicines (proton pump inhibitors) or any other ingredients in Pantoprazole Stada.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems or have had them before, as your doctor may need to monitor your liver enzymes more often.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking medicines for HIV infection (like atazanavir) or medicines for cancer, psoriasis, or rheumatoid arthritis (like methotrexate).
  • Using this medicine for a long time (more than a year) can slightly increase your risk of bone fractures (hip, wrist, or spine).
  • If you take this medicine for more than three months, your magnesium levels in the blood might drop. Low magnesium can cause tiredness, muscle twitches, confusion, seizures, dizziness, or a fast heartbeat. Tell your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

  • If you get a rash, especially in areas exposed to sunlight, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Also, mention any previous skin reactions to similar medicines.
  • Stop using this medicine and get medical help right away if you notice severe skin reactions like red, target-like spots, peeling skin, blisters, or flu-like symptoms (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, DRESS, AGEP).
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms, as they could be signs of a more serious condition: unintentional weight loss, repeated vomiting, vomiting blood (looks like coffee grounds), blood in stools (black and tar-like), difficulty or pain when swallowing, paleness and weakness (anemia), chest pain, stomach pain, or severe/persistent diarrhea.
