How to Use

Dosage

Typically 1 or 2 tablets per day, but your doctor will tell you the exact dose for your condition.

Method

Take the tablets whole with water one hour before a meal. Do not chew or break them.

Important

Your doctor will tell you your maximum daily dose, which is usually up to 2 tablets (80mg).

  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of the face or throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing, very fast heartbeat, heavy sweating)
  • Taste disturbances or loss of taste
  • Visual disturbances (e.g., blurred vision)
  • Joint pain or muscle pain
  • Changes in weight
  • High fever or increased body temperature
  • Swelling in arms or legs (peripheral edema)
  • Depression
  • Male breast enlargement
  • Disorientation (confusion about time and place)
  • Hallucinations
  • Confusion (especially if you have had these symptoms before)
  • Tingling, numbness, or burning sensations
  • Muscle cramps due to electrolyte imbalance (changes in salt levels in the body)
  • Inflammation of the large intestine causing persistent watery diarrhea
  • Severe skin reactions like blistering or peeling skin, flu-like symptoms, or a widespread rash with high fever and swollen lymph nodes (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, DRESS)
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), fever, rash, and enlarged kidneys, possibly leading to kidney failure
  • Changes in blood test results (e.g., increased liver enzymes, bilirubin, or blood fats; decreased white blood cells, platelets, sodium, magnesium, calcium, or potassium levels)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to pantoprazole or any other ingredient in this medicine, or to other similar medicines called proton pump inhibitors.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had severe liver problems, as your doctor may need to monitor you closely.
  • If you use this medicine for a long time, it can reduce vitamin B12 absorption. Tell your doctor if you experience extreme tiredness, tingling, sore tongue, muscle weakness, vision problems, memory issues, confusion, or depression.
  • If you are taking medicines for HIV, such as atazanavir, talk to your doctor.
  • Using this medicine for over a year may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures (hip, wrist, or spine). Tell your doctor if you have weak bones (osteoporosis) or are at risk.

  • If you use this medicine for more than three months, your blood magnesium levels might drop. Contact your doctor immediately if you feel tired, have muscle twitching, confusion, dizziness, or a fast heartbeat.
  • If you develop a rash, especially in sun-exposed areas, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Also mention any other symptoms like joint pain.
  • Tell your doctor if you are scheduled for a specific blood test called Chromogranin A.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience unexplained weight loss, repeated vomiting, vomiting blood, black or tarry stools, difficulty or pain when swallowing, paleness and weakness, chest pain, stomach pain, or severe/persistent watery diarrhea.
  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you get severe skin reactions such as blistering, peeling skin, flu-like symptoms, or a widespread rash with high fever and swollen lymph nodes.

Category A
