Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel dizzy or faint.
  • Nausea (feeling sick).
  • Slow heart rate.
  • Headache.
  • Vomiting (being sick).
  • Difficulty urinating or involuntary urination.
RARE
  • Itching, numbness, burning or tingling sensation in the skin.
  • Back pain.
  • Short-term muscle weakness.
  • Heart attack.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Weakness, loss of feeling, or inability to move in the lower parts of the body.
  • Long-lasting back or leg pain.
  • Reduced or unusual skin sensation.
  • Nerve damage (can be permanent in rare cases).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to bupivacaine or similar numbing medicines (like lidocaine or ropivacaine).
  • Do not take if you have a skin infection near the injection site or blood poisoning (sepsis).
  • Do not take if you have severe heart problems (cardiogenic shock) or very low blood pressure that makes you collapse (hypovolemic shock).
  • Tell your doctor if you have problems with your blood clotting.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diseases of the brain or spine (like meningitis or polio), or if you have recently had a spinal injury, tuberculosis, or tumors.

  • Tell your doctor if you are elderly, generally unwell, or have problems with your heart, liver, kidneys, or lungs.
  • This medicine should not be injected into skin that is inflamed or infected.
  • Tell your doctor about any nerve-related conditions you have, such as multiple sclerosis or paralysis (like hemiplegia or paraplegia).
  • If you get signs of a severe allergic reaction (like swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, sudden swelling of hands/feet/ankles, breathing problems, severe skin rash, or very low blood pressure causing dizziness), tell your doctor immediately.
