How to Use

Dosage

For children over 3 months old, the dose is 15 mg per kg of body weight, up to 3 times a day. Always follow the weight-based dosing instructions provided by your doctor or in the leaflet.

Method

Insert the suppository into the rectum. If the suppository is soft, place it in the refrigerator for a short time before use to firm it up.

Important

Do not use more than three doses in one day, and there must be at least 4 hours between doses. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Redness of the rectal lining.
RARE
  • Allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the lips, tongue, throat, or face.
  • Skin peeling or rash with blisters.
  • Mouth sores.
  • Breathing problems, especially if previously experienced with aspirin or other anti-inflammatory pain medicines.
  • Blood problems, such as unusual bleeding or bruising.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if the child is allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Panadol suppositories without a doctor's advice if the child has heart failure, liver, or kidney disease.
  • Panadol suppositories are for temporary use. If symptoms last a long time or occur often, contact a doctor.
  • Do not use other pain relievers at the same time without a doctor's prescription.
  • Talk to a doctor if the child does not feel better or feels worse after three days. For continuous use for more than three days, only with a doctor's prescription. Contact a doctor if fever lasts over 3 days, or if it's unclear what's causing it, or if there's severe pain or worsening general condition.

  • This medicine contains paracetamol. Too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage.
  • Do not give this medicine to a child if you are also giving other prescription or over-the-counter medicines containing paracetamol for pain, fever, cold, or flu symptoms.
  • Always talk to a doctor before giving Panadol suppositories if the child has liver or kidney problems, is underweight or malnourished.
  • Stop use and tell a doctor immediately if the child has an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face.
  • Stop use and tell a doctor immediately if the child's skin peels or develops a rash with blisters.
  • Stop use and tell a doctor immediately if the child develops mouth sores.
  • Stop use and tell a doctor immediately if the child has previously had breathing problems after taking aspirin or other anti-inflammatory pain medicines, and gets a similar reaction with this medicine.
  • Stop use and tell a doctor immediately if the child has blood problems, such as unusual bleeding or bruising.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
