How to Use

Dosage

The dosage is based on the child's weight and is usually 1-2 tablets up to three times a day.

Method

For children under 6 years, dissolve the tablet in water or milk. Children over 6 years can suck on the tablet.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 45 mg of paracetamol per kilogram of body weight.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Changes in liver enzyme levels (seen in blood tests).
RARE
  • Allergic reactions like skin rash, itching, swelling of the face or tongue, and difficulty breathing.
RARE
  • Severe skin reactions.
RARE
  • Blood problems, such as a decrease in platelets (can cause bleeding) or white blood cells (can increase infection risk).
RARE
  • A serious condition where the blood becomes too acidic, which can cause severe breathing problems, drowsiness, nausea, and vomiting.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if the child is allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if the child has a severe liver disease or a rare genetic condition called PKU (phenylketonuria).
  • Do not give other medicines that contain paracetamol at the same time to avoid an overdose.
  • Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before use if the patient has kidney problems, a history of alcohol abuse, malnutrition, dehydration, or takes other medicines that affect the liver.
  • Seek medical help immediately if you notice severe breathing problems, drowsiness, nausea, or vomiting, as these can be signs of a serious condition.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
