This medicine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer treatments by blocking a body chemical called serotonin.
Adults usually receive 250 micrograms. For children and adolescents, the dose is based on their body weight.
The medicine is given as an injection into a vein about 30 minutes before chemotherapy. For children and adolescents, it's a slow drip into a vein.
The maximum daily dose for adults is 250 micrograms, and for children and adolescents, it is 1500 micrograms.
