How to Use

Dosage

Adults usually receive 250 micrograms. For children and adolescents, the dose is based on their body weight.

Method

The medicine is given as an injection into a vein about 30 minutes before chemotherapy. For children and adolescents, it's a slow drip into a vein.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 250 micrograms, and for children and adolescents, it is 1500 micrograms.

  • Diarrhoea
RARE
  • Changes in vein color and widening
  • Unusual good mood or anxiety
  • Drowsiness or difficulty sleeping
  • Reduced appetite or lack of appetite
  • Weakness, tiredness, flu-like symptoms
  • Numbness, burning, stinging, or itching sensation on the skin
  • Itchy rash or hives
  • Blurred vision or eye irritation
  • Motion sickness
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Hiccups, flatulence, dry mouth, or indigestion
  • Stomach pain
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Joint pain
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Abnormal heart rate or reduced blood flow to the heart
  • Abnormal potassium levels in the blood
  • High blood sugar levels or sugar in urine
  • Low calcium levels in the blood
  • High bilirubin levels in the blood
  • High liver enzyme levels
  • Abnormalities in heart tracing (ECG), such as a prolonged QT interval
  • Burning sensation, pain, or redness at the injection/infusion site
  • Involuntary movements
  • Cough or shortness of breath
  • Nosebleed

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to palonosetron or any other ingredient.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a bowel blockage or frequent constipation.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your family have had heart problems, such as an irregular heartbeat.
  • Tell your doctor if your blood salt levels (like potassium or magnesium) are unusual and have not been treated.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines, especially for depression or anxiety (SSRI, SNRI) or medicines that affect your heart rhythm.

  • If you are pregnant or think you might be, your doctor will only give you this medicine if it is absolutely necessary.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as it is not known if the medicine passes into breast milk.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel these effects.
