How to Use

Dosage

The typical starting dose is 5 mg every six hours.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water, with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or inject the capsules.

Important

Do not take this medicine more than 6 times a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Drowsiness, dizziness, headache
  • Constipation, nausea, vomiting
  • Itching
  • Decreased appetite
  • Anxiety, confusion, depression, nervousness, sleep problems, unusual thoughts
  • Uncontrolled movements or shaking (tremor), extreme tiredness (lethargy)
  • Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing or wheezing
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, dry mouth, indigestion
  • Skin reactions/rash, excessive sweating
  • Increased, sudden urge to urinate
  • Weakness (asthenia), fatigue
RARE
  • Allergic reaction
  • Agitation, mood swings, extreme happiness, altered perception (e.g., hallucinations)
  • Seizures
  • Memory loss, migraine
  • Increased heart rate, irregular or strong heartbeat
  • Liver problems (increased liver enzymes)
  • Hives (urticaria), increased sensitivity to light
  • Herpes simplex (cold sores)
  • Swollen lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy)
  • Increased appetite
  • Low blood pressure, dizziness when standing up
  • Blood in urine (hematuria)
  • Weight changes (gain or loss), inflammation under the skin (cellulitis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to oxycodone hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems (respiratory depression).
  • Do not use if you have severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  • Do not use if your bowel function has stopped (paralytic ileus).
  • This medicine contains oxycodone, an opioid, which can cause dependence, addiction, and life-threatening overdose with repeated misuse.

  • Avoid grapefruit juice, as it can increase the effect of this medicine.
  • Do not drink alcohol during treatment, as it increases drowsiness and serious side effects.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding, as it can harm your baby.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 24.3.2025)
