How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 10 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride every 12 hours.

Method

Swallow the whole tablet with half a glass of water, with or without food, every morning and evening at the same time. Do not chew, break, or crush the tablet, and do not take with alcohol.

Important

For non-cancer pain, a daily dose of 40 mg is generally sufficient, but higher doses may be needed. For cancer pain, doses typically range from 80-120 mg, and can be increased up to 400 mg in individual cases.

  • Stomach problems (e.g., abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion)
  • Skin issues (e.g., rash, excessive sweating, sensitivity to light, hives, or peeling skin)
  • Urination problems (frequent urination)
  • Weakness (asthenia) or fatigue
  • Allergic reactions
  • Changes in a hormone that affects urine production (abnormal or increased production)
  • Dehydration
  • Changes in senses (e.g., feeling unreal, hallucinations, mood swings, abnormal hearing sensitivity, euphoria, sadness, restlessness)
  • Muscle stiffness or weakness, involuntary muscle contractions, memory loss (amnesia), seizures, high blood pressure, speech difficulties, reduced touch sensitivity, coordination problems, fainting, tingling or numbness of the skin, taste changes
  • Changes in tear secretion, vision problems, constricted pupils
  • Vertigo, ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat (e.g., supraventricular tachycardia, palpitations during withdrawal), widened blood vessels
  • Increased coughing, throat inflammation (pharyngitis), runny nose, voice changes
  • Mouth ulcers, gum inflammation, mouth inflammation (stomatitis), difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), flatulence, burping, bowel obstruction (ileus)
  • Increased liver enzymes, urethral spasms
  • Dry skin
  • Urinary retention
  • Sexual dysfunction (e.g., reduced libido, impotence), decreased hormone production in testes/ovaries (hypogonadism)
  • Accidental injuries, pain (e.g., chest pain), discomfort, fluid retention in tissues (edema), swelling of hands and feet due to fluid retention, migraine, physical dependence with withdrawal symptoms, tolerance to medicine, thirst, chills.
RARE
  • Lymph node disease (lymphadenopathy)
  • Seizures, especially in patients with epilepsy or prone to seizures, muscle spasms (involuntary muscle contractions)
  • Low blood pressure, tendency to faint when standing up
  • Gum bleeding, increased appetite, black stool, tooth discoloration and damage
  • Herpes simplex (skin and mucous membrane disorder), hives (urticaria)
  • Weight changes (increase or decrease), bacterial infection of subcutaneous tissue (cellulitis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to oxycodone hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe breathing problems (respiratory depression), low oxygen levels in your blood, or high carbon dioxide levels in your blood.
  • Do not take if you have severe chronic lung disease (COPD), heart disease due to lung circulation issues, or acute severe asthma.
  • Do not take if you have a certain type of bowel obstruction (paralytic ileus), sudden stomach pain, or slow bowel function.
  • Do not use with alcohol, as it can increase the risk of serious side effects like drowsiness, weak breathing, unconsciousness, or coma, which can be life-threatening.

  • Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase the medicine's effects.
  • Do not take during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Long-term use during pregnancy can cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms in the newborn.
  • Do not take while breastfeeding, as oxycodone passes into breast milk and can cause breathing problems for the baby.
  • This medicine can affect your concentration and reaction time. Be careful when driving or operating machinery.
