How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for pain is one 10 mg/5 mg tablet every 12 hours. For restless legs, it's one 5 mg/2.5 mg tablet every 12 hours. Your doctor will tell you your exact dose.

Method

Swallow tablets whole with water, with or without food, every 12 hours (e.g., 8 AM and 8 PM). Do not break, chew, or crush any tablets; this can be dangerous.

Important

The maximum daily dose for pain is 160 mg of oxycodone and 80 mg of naloxone. For restless legs, it is 60 mg of oxycodone and 30 mg of naloxone. Do not take more than your doctor prescribes.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, indigestion, vomiting, nausea, gas
  • Decreased appetite
  • Dizziness, headache, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, vertigo
  • Hot flashes, sweating, itching, rash
  • Unusual weakness, tiredness
RARE
  • Bloating, unusual thoughts, anxiety, confusion, depression, nervousness, restlessness
  • Chest tightness or pain, fast heartbeat, low or high blood pressure, fainting, drug dependence
  • Withdrawal symptoms (like agitation), lack of energy, thirst, general discomfort, chills, yawning
  • Taste changes, gallstone attack, tooth changes, gum bleeding, black stools, increased appetite
  • Swelling in hands, ankles, or feet
  • Trouble concentrating, speech problems, shaking, muscle spasms, muscle twitching, muscle pain
  • Breathing problems, high liver enzyme levels, infections (like herpes)
  • Decreased sex drive, runny nose, cough, allergic reactions, weight loss, weight gain, accidental injuries, increased urge to urinate, blurred vision

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious breathing problems, severe lung disease, or asthma.
  • Tell your doctor if you have moderate to severe liver problems.
  • Do not split, break, chew, or crush the tablets as this can be dangerous and potentially deadly.
  • This medicine can cause addiction. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor and do not stop suddenly.

  • Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as they can increase serious side effects.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor says it is absolutely necessary.
  • This medicine can make you drowsy or dizzy. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel these effects.
  • Never dissolve and inject these tablets, as it can cause serious harm or even death.
  • This medicine is only for you. Do not give it to others.
  • Keep this medicine in a locked, safe place, out of sight and reach of children.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 24.3.2025)
