How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for pain is one 10 mg/5 mg prolonged-release tablet twice daily, every 12 hours.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with enough liquid, with or without food; do not break, chew, or crush them.

Important

The maximum daily dose for this medication is 160 mg oxycodone and 80 mg naloxone.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to oxycodone, naloxone, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe breathing problems or lung disease, such as severe COPD or asthma.
  • Do not take if you have moderate to severe liver problems.
  • Do not take if you have a bowel blockage not caused by opioid treatment.
  • Always swallow tablets whole; never break, chew, or crush them, as this can lead to a dangerous overdose.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of confusion and falling. Need for laxative is often necessary. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 24.3.2025)
