How to Use

Dosage

For adults and adolescents 12 years or older who haven't taken opioids before, the usual starting dose is 5 ml of the 1 mg/ml solution or 0.5 ml of the 10 mg/ml solution (equal to 5 mg oxycodone hydrochloride) every 6 hours.

Method

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Use the provided syringe to measure your dose. Place the syringe tip into your mouth, then carefully press the plunger to release the liquid and swallow. Rinse the syringe after use.

Your doctor will decide your maximum daily dose based on your pain and individual needs.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Sleepiness, dizziness, headache
  • Constipation, feeling sick (nausea), being sick (vomiting), diarrhea, stomach pain
  • Itching, skin rash, increased sweating
  • Loss of appetite
  • Anxiety, confusion, depression, trouble sleeping, nervousness, problems with thinking
  • Shaking, tiredness, feeling weak
  • Shortness of breath
  • Dry mouth
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis)
  • Low blood pressure, feeling dizzy or fainting when standing up
  • Hives (itchy rash)
  • Seizures
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Sleep apnea (breathing stops during sleep)
  • Increased pain sensitivity

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to oxycodone hydrochloride or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe breathing difficulties or very low oxygen/high carbon dioxide in your blood.
  • Do not take if you have a severe gut blockage (paralytic ileus) causing strong stomach pain or slow stomach emptying.
  • This medicine contains oxycodone, which is an opioid. It can cause dependence and addiction. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can make you very sleepy and increase the risk of serious side effects like shallow breathing or losing consciousness.

  • Avoid grapefruit juice as it can increase the amount of oxycodone in your blood.
  • Do not use this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless specifically advised by your doctor, as it can harm the baby.
  • This medicine can make you drowsy and affect your ability to drive or operate machines safely.
  • Taking this medicine with sedatives (like benzodiazepines) or other strong pain medicines can increase drowsiness, breathing problems, and risk of coma, which can be life-threatening.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
