How to Use

Dosage

One spray into each nostril as needed, up to three times a day.

Method

Remove the protective cap. Hold the bottle upright with your thumb at the base and the nozzle between two fingers. If using for the first time, pump 4 times until a fine mist appears. Blow your nose. Lean forward slightly, insert the nozzle into a nostril, spray once, and breathe in gently through your nose. Repeat for the other nostril. Clean the nozzle and replace the cap after use. This bottle should only be used by one person.

Important

Do not use more than three times a day in each nostril. Do not use for more than 10 consecutive days.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dryness or irritation of the nasal lining.
  • Local burning sensation in the nose.
  • Nausea.
  • Headache.
RARE
  • Nosebleed.
  • Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, or hives.
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
  • Temporary blurred vision.
  • Irregular or fast heartbeat.
  • Sleep disturbances, dizziness, or tremor.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to any of Otrivin's ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have recently had surgery in your head area (through the nose or mouth).
  • Do not use if you have chronic dry nose or inflammation (atrophic rhinitis).
  • Do not use if you have narrow-angle glaucoma (high eye pressure).
  • Not for children under 12 years of age.

  • Do not use if you are taking certain antidepressants (such as MAOIs or tricyclic/tetracyclic antidepressants) or have used them in the past two weeks.
  • Should not be used during pregnancy due to its blood vessel constricting effect.
  • Excessive or prolonged use (more than 10 consecutive days) can worsen nasal congestion.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose.
