How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 1-2 tablets in the morning and in the afternoon.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Ormox 20 mg tablets can be divided.

Important

Follow your doctor's instructions; typically, no more than 4 tablets per day.

Possible Side Effects

  • Headache, dizziness, feeling weak

  • Low blood pressure, especially when standing up; skin redness

  • Changes in hemoglobin (methemoglobinemia)

  • Shock
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, heartburn, dry mouth
  • Allergic rash, itching
  • Muscle pain
  • Urination problems, frequent need to urinate
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Increased eye pressure

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to isosorbide mononitrate or other nitrates.
  • Do not take if you have very low blood volume (hypovolemia) or extremely low blood pressure with dizziness.
  • This medicine is not for sudden chest pain (acute heart attack); use a fast-acting nitrate medicine instead.
  • Do not take if you are in shock.
  • Do not take if you are using medicines for erectile dysfunction (like sildenafil, vardenafil, or tadalafil).

  • Do not take if you are using riociguat (it may cause a severe drop in blood pressure).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have brain circulation problems or tend to have low blood pressure when standing up.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have certain heart conditions (e.g., thickened heart muscle, narrow heart valves, fluid around the heart, or heart inflammation).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have lung disease with heart problems (cor pulmonale) or low blood oxygen.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have high pressure in your head or glaucoma.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have certain blood changes (hemoglobin changes).
  • Alcohol can severely lower your blood pressure.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Consider reduced blood pressure and the risk of fainting due to orthostatic hypotonia. Need for long-acting product should be assessed regularly. (updated 19.5.2025)
