Orisild contains sildenafil, which helps lower high blood pressure in the lungs by widening blood vessels, and is used to treat pulmonary hypertension in adults, children, and adolescents aged 1-17 years.

How to Use

Dosage

For adults, 20 mg three times a day. For children and adolescents (1-17 years), 10 mg three times a day if weighing 20 kg or less, or 20 mg three times a day if weighing over 20 kg.

Method

Take your dose every 6-8 hours, with or without food.

Important

Do not take more medication than your doctor has prescribed. Children should not take higher doses.

  • Severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of face/lips/tongue, trouble breathing or swallowing)

  • Inflammation of the stomach and intestines
  • Wheezing due to blocked airways
  • Low blood pressure

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Orisild if you are allergic to sildenafil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take Orisild if you are taking medicines called nitrates or nitric oxide donors (like amyl nitrite) used for chest pain. Orisild can greatly increase their effects.
  • Do not take Orisild if you are taking riociguat, a medicine for high blood pressure in the lungs. Orisild can increase its blood-pressure-lowering effect.
  • Do not take Orisild if you recently had a stroke, heart attack, or have severe liver problems or very low blood pressure (below 90/50 mmHg).
  • Do not take Orisild if you are taking medicines for fungal infections (like ketoconazole or itraconazole) or HIV (like ritonavir).

  • Do not take Orisild if you have ever lost your vision due to a blood flow problem to the optic nerve (NAION).
  • Stop taking Orisild and contact a doctor right away if you experience sudden blurred vision or vision loss.
  • Stop taking Orisild and contact a doctor right away if you have an erection that lasts longer than 4 hours.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking Orisild.
  • Orisild should not be given to children under 1 year of age.
  • Orisild may cause dizziness and affect your vision. Be aware of how it affects you before driving or using machines.
