How to Use

Dosage

For adults with jet lag: 3 mg daily at bedtime for up to 4 days. If needed, you can take 5 mg on later days (not the same day as 3 mg). For children and adolescents (6-17) with ADHD-related insomnia: 3 mg or 5 mg, 30-60 minutes before bedtime, as directed by a doctor.

Method

Take the tablet whole or crushed and mixed with cold water. Take it at bedtime, local time. Do not eat 2 hours before or after taking it.

Important

The highest daily dose is 5 mg for jet lag, and treatment should not last more than 4 days. For ADHD-related insomnia, follow your doctor's instructions.

  • Vision problems, such as blurry vision
  • Stomach upset, including pain, nausea, indigestion, or unusual bowel sounds
  • Skin reactions, like rash, itching, dry skin, or eczema
  • High blood pressure
  • Swelling, especially of the face, mouth, or tongue
  • Joint pain or muscle cramps
  • Feeling tired or weak
  • Increased urination at night
  • Weight gain
  • Shingles (herpes zoster)
  • Changes in blood tests (e.g., blood sugar, fats, or electrolytes)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Orimelan if you are allergic to melatonin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Orimelan if you have diabetes, liver or kidney disease, an autoimmune disease, or epilepsy.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are elderly.
  • Smoking can make Orimelan less effective.
  • Do not use Orimelan if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you could become pregnant, use birth control during treatment.

  • Do not eat for 2 hours before or after taking Orimelan. Do not drink alcohol before, during, or after taking Orimelan, as it can reduce its effect.
  • Orimelan can make you sleepy and less alert for several hours. Do not drive or use machines after taking this medicine.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 18 for jet lag treatment and not for children under 6 years old at all.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, including those without a prescription, as Orimelan can interact with them.
