How to Use

Dosage

Dosage varies based on the condition being treated; typically 250 mg to 1000 mg daily, as prescribed by your doctor.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water or other liquid (not milk), sitting or standing up, and not right before bed. It's best to take it one hour before or two hours after meals. Avoid taking it with dairy products as they can reduce the medicine's absorption; wait 1-2 hours between taking Oricyclin and consuming milk.

Important

Do not exceed 2000 mg per day unless your doctor tells you to.

COMMON
  • Yeast infections
  • Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Tooth enamel underdevelopment and tooth discoloration in children
RARE
  • Damage to the food pipe
  • Allergic skin reactions, hives, swelling, sensitivity to light
  • Serious allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
  • Superinfections, vaginal inflammation, overgrowth of resistant microorganisms
  • Changes in blood count, anemia
  • Temporary increase in brain pressure
  • Vision problems, muscle weakness
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Inflammation of the heart lining
  • Changes in gut bacteria, inflammation of the intestines, tongue, mouth, or pancreas, difficulty swallowing
  • Liver toxicity, fatty liver
  • Allergic purpura (red spots on skin), worsening of SLE
  • Increased blood urea nitrogen

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to tetracycline or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney or liver problems.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it can harm developing bones and teeth in the baby.
  • Do not give to children under 8 years old because it can permanently stain teeth and affect bone growth.
  • Avoid strong sunlight and sunbeds as this medicine can make your skin very sensitive to light.

  • Take with plenty of liquid and stay upright to prevent irritation of the food pipe.
  • If you experience severe or long-lasting diarrhea, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a narrowed food pipe, porphyria, myasthenia gravis, or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), as this medicine might worsen these conditions.
