Oramet-hexal contains metformin, a medicine used to help people with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar levels.
Children over 10 years and adolescents usually start with 500 mg or 850 mg once daily. Adults usually start with 500 mg or 850 mg two or three times daily. Your doctor may prescribe a lower dose if your kidney function is reduced.
Take the tablets with or after a meal to help prevent stomach problems. Swallow each tablet whole with a glass of water, do not crush or chew them.
The maximum daily dose for children aged 10 and older and adolescents is 2000 mg, divided into two or three doses. The maximum daily dose for adults is 3000 mg, divided into three doses.
