Optiray is injected into a blood vessel (vein or artery) and spreads throughout your body during the X-ray examination.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Optiray if you are allergic to iodine contrast agents or any other ingredients in this medicine, or if you have an overactive thyroid.
  • Tell your doctor before using Optiray if you have allergies, asthma, heart or blood pressure issues, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, a brain disorder, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Optiray can cause severe, life-threatening skin reactions. Seek medical help immediately if you get a rash, fever, or swelling.
  • A temporary brain problem can occur. Tell your doctor if you have symptoms like confusion, vision changes, or sudden movements.
  • If you take metformin for diabetes, your doctor will check your kidney function and may tell you to stop taking metformin before and after the exam.

  • Do not drive or use machines for 1 hour after the injection, as Optiray can cause dizziness or drowsiness.
  • An overdose can be dangerous and affect breathing, heart, and circulation. Tell your doctor or radiologist immediately if you notice any symptoms after using Optiray.
