Oparta is an inhaler containing two medicines that work together to make breathing easier, relieve asthma and COPD symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing, and help prevent asthma attacks.

How to Use

Dosage

Typically, 1 to 2 puffs, two times a day.

Method

Inhale slowly and deeply through your mouth, pressing the inhaler once. Hold your breath, then breathe out slowly. Rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth after use to prevent fungal infections.

Important

Maximum 8 puffs per day if used as the sole asthma inhaler.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fungal infection in the mouth or throat
  • Headache
  • Hoarseness
  • Sore throat
RARE
  • Heart palpitations, fast or irregular heartbeat, changes in blood pressure, chest tightness
  • Flu-like symptoms, sinus or ear infections, runny nose
  • Throat irritation, cough with mucus, worsening asthma, feeling short of breath
  • Nausea, stomach ache, diarrhea, changes in taste, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, burning sensation on lips
  • Muscle pain or cramps, excessive sweating, feeling shaky (tremors), restlessness, dizziness, trouble sleeping
  • Skin rash, itching, redness, swelling (like in the face, hands, or feet), hives
  • Changes in blood test results (like blood sugar or potassium levels)
  • Blurred vision, increased eye pressure (glaucoma), cataracts, thin bones, slower growth in children
  • Feeling sad or anxious, feeling nervous or easily annoyed

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to beclometasone dipropionate, formoterol fumarate dihydrate, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • If your breathing suddenly worsens or you start wheezing right after using the inhaler, stop using Oparta immediately and use your rescue inhaler. Contact your doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you experience allergic reactions like skin rash, itching, redness, or swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or throat.
  • Inform your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, or an overactive thyroid.
  • This medicine is not for children under 18 years old.

  • Do not stop using Oparta or change your dose without talking to your doctor, even if you feel better.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other vision changes.
