How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the correct dose for you based on your needs and health.

Method

You can take the tablet with or without food, and it can be divided into two equal halves.

Important

Your doctor will decide your maximum daily dose, and the treatment should be for the shortest possible time to avoid dependency.

  • Severe allergic reactions including itchy skin, rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, and difficulty breathing or swallowing

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Opamox if you are allergic to oxazepam, other benzodiazepines, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have a muscle weakness condition called myasthenia gravis.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems or long pauses in breathing while sleeping (sleep apnea).
  • Do not drink alcohol during treatment, and avoid using this medicine with opioids (strong pain relievers) unless your doctor specifically tells you to.
  • Long-term use can cause dependency. Stop taking the medicine gradually as advised by your doctor; do not stop abruptly.

  • This medicine can affect your ability to drive and concentrate, especially at the beginning of treatment. Avoid driving and operating machinery.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. For short-term use only. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 15.1.2024)
