How to Use

Dosage

The amount you receive depends on the type of examination, your age, weight, and overall health.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein, artery, spinal canal, or body cavity, or orally for digestive tract exams.

Important

Adults should not receive more than 3 grams of iodine per day to avoid harmful side effects.

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor if you have allergies, asthma, or have reacted badly to other iodine-containing contrast agents before.
  • Severe allergic reactions, though rare, can be life-threatening. Medical staff will be prepared to handle emergencies.
  • Ensure you are well hydrated before and after the examination, especially if you have kidney problems, diabetes, or are elderly or very young.
  • Iodine contrast agents can affect your thyroid function, especially if you have a thyroid condition.
  • If you have diabetes and take metformin, your doctor may adjust your metformin dose or ask you to stop taking it temporarily before and after the exam due to kidney risk.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery for at least one hour after an injection, or for 24 hours after an intrathecal examination, or longer if symptoms persist.
