Omestad contains omeprazole, a medicine that reduces the amount of acid in your stomach.
For common stomach acid problems, the usual dose is 10 mg or 20 mg once a day. Your doctor will tell you the exact dose.
Take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you, usually in the morning on an empty stomach, swallowing the capsule whole with half a glass of water without chewing or crushing it. If you have trouble swallowing, you can open the capsule and mix its contents with half a glass of water or acidic fruit juice (like apple, orange, or pineapple juice), or applesauce. Drink immediately or within 30 minutes, rinse the glass with water and drink that too. Do not chew or crush the solid parts.
The maximum daily dose will be determined by your doctor based on your condition.
Suitable for older adults. For short-term use only. Consider the numerous potential interactions, especially with clopidogrel and (es)citalopram. Avoid long-term use. Long-term use carries an increased risk of adverse effects. Risk of hypomagnesemia in prolonged use. (updated 10.11.2025)
