How to Use

Dosage

Take one 20 mg capsule or two 10 mg capsules once a day for 14 days.

Method

Take the capsule(s) in the morning with half a glass of water. You can take them with or without food. Swallow whole; do not chew or crush.

Important

The maximum daily dose for self-treatment is one 20 mg capsule (or two 10 mg capsules) for up to 14 days.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, or gas
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting)
  • Small growths in the stomach called benign polyps
RARE
  • Swelling of the feet and ankles
  • Sleep problems (insomnia or sleepiness)
  • Dizziness, tingling, or spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Changes in liver blood tests
  • Skin rash, hives, or itchy skin, sometimes worsened by sunlight
  • Feeling generally unwell or lacking energy
  • Changes in blood cells (e.g., fewer white blood cells or platelets), leading to weakness, bruising, or more infections
  • Allergic reactions with swelling (lips, tongue, throat), fever, or wheezing
  • Low sodium levels in the blood, causing weakness, vomiting, or cramps
  • Feeling agitated, confused, or depressed
  • Changes in taste
  • Blurred vision
  • Dry mouth or mouth inflammation
  • Fungal infection (thrush) in the mouth or gut
  • Yellow skin, dark urine, or tiredness (signs of liver problems)
  • Hair loss
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Kidney problems (inflammation)
  • Increased sweating
  • Aggression or hallucinations (seeing/hearing things that aren't there)
  • Severe liver problems leading to liver failure or brain inflammation
  • Severe skin rashes with blisters or peeling skin, sometimes with fever and joint pain (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Muscle weakness
  • Enlarged breasts in men
  • Inflammation in the gut causing diarrhea
  • Low magnesium levels in the blood

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Omeprazol SanoSwiss for more than 14 days without talking to a doctor.
  • Contact your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen after 14 days of use.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to omeprazole, other similar medicines (proton pump inhibitors), or nelfinavir (an HIV medicine).
  • Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions like rash, blisters, or swelling of the face and throat (severe allergic reaction).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing, severe stomach pain, vomiting blood or food, black stools, or severe, persistent diarrhea.

  • Report any unusual rash, especially in sun-exposed areas, to your doctor promptly as treatment may need to be stopped.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For short-term use only. Consider the numerous potential interactions, especially with clopidogrel and (es)citalopram. Avoid long-term use. Long-term use carries an increased risk of adverse effects. Risk of hypomagnesemia in prolonged use. (updated 10.11.2025)
