How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 20 mg/12.5 mg tablet once a day. Your doctor may increase this to one 20 mg/25 mg tablet daily if your blood pressure is not well controlled.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take your dose at the same time each day, for example, with breakfast. Continue taking it unless your doctor tells you to stop.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 20 mg/25 mg tablet.

Important Warnings

  • If you have a severe allergic reaction with swelling of your face, mouth, or throat, itching, or rash, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you feel very dizzy or faint, or if your blood pressure drops too low, stop taking the medicine, contact your doctor immediately, and lie down.
  • If your skin or eyes turn yellow (jaundice), your urine becomes dark, or your skin itches, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it can harm your baby. Avoid it during early pregnancy too.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney problems.

  • Do not take this medicine if you have very low potassium or sodium levels, or very high calcium or uric acid levels in your blood, and these problems are not improving with treatment.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver problems, jaundice, or if bile cannot flow properly from your gallbladder (e.g., gallstones).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.
  • If you have had breathing or lung problems after taking hydrochlorothiazide before, or if you develop severe shortness of breath after taking this medicine, seek medical help immediately.
  • If you experience blurred vision or eye pain, seek urgent medical attention, as this could lead to permanent vision loss if untreated.
