How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 10 mg tablet once daily. Your doctor may increase this to 20 mg or 40 mg once daily if needed, or add other medicines. For mild to moderate kidney disease, the maximum dose is 20 mg once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with enough water, with or without food. Try to take your dose at the same time each day, for example, with breakfast.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, fatigue
  • Headache
  • Nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, stomach pain, stomach flu
  • Sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, cough
  • Pain (chest, back, bones, joints)
  • Urinary tract infection, blood in urine
  • Swelling of ankles, feet, lower legs, hands or arms
RARE
  • Vertigo (spinning sensation)
  • Vomiting, feeling unwell
  • Weakness
  • Muscle pain
  • Rash, allergic rash, itching, exanthema (skin eruption), hives
  • Chest pain due to lack of oxygen to heart muscle (angina)
  • Lack of energy
  • Muscle cramps
  • Impaired kidney function, kidney failure
  • Intestinal angioedema (swelling in the intestine with symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Olmesartan medoxomil Stada if you are allergic to olmesartan medoxomil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant. It is also best to avoid it in early pregnancy.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice) or problems with bile flow from your gallbladder (e.g., gallstones).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure-lowering medicine that contains aliskiren.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy.

  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience severe, prolonged diarrhea, especially if it leads to significant weight loss.
  • Like all blood pressure-lowering medicines, a sudden drop in blood pressure can lead to a heart attack or stroke, especially if you have existing heart or brain blood flow issues.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience swelling of your face, mouth, or throat, accompanied by itching and rash (signs of a severe allergic reaction).
  • Stop taking this medicine, contact your doctor immediately, and lie down if you feel very dizzy or faint, especially if you are elderly, as this could be due to very low blood pressure or an allergic reaction.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you notice yellowing of your eyes, dark urine, or itchy skin, as these could be signs of jaundice.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
