This medicine helps lower high blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels.
The usual starting dose is one 10 mg tablet once a day. Your doctor may increase this to 20 mg or 40 mg daily if needed, or prescribe additional medication. For patients with kidney problems, the maximum daily dose is 20 mg.
You can take the tablet with or without food. Swallow it whole with enough water, like a glass of water. Try to take your dose at the same time each day, for example, with breakfast.
Do not exceed 40 mg per day. If you have kidney problems, do not exceed 20 mg per day.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
