How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 10 mg tablet once daily. Your doctor may increase the dose to 20 mg or 40 mg if needed. For children weighing less than 35 kg, the maximum dose is 20 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water, with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day, for example, with breakfast.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 40 mg. For children weighing less than 35 kg, the maximum daily dose is 20 mg.

  • Muscle pain or cramps
  • Rash, allergic rash, hives, skin eruption, itching
  • Chest pain due to lack of oxygen to the heart (angina)
  • Worsening kidney function or kidney failure
  • Swelling of the intestine (intestinal angioedema) with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Yellowing of the whites of the eyes, dark urine, itchy skin

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to olmesartan medoxomil or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it can seriously harm your baby. It is also best to avoid it in early pregnancy.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have yellowing of your skin or eyes (jaundice) or problems with the flow of bile from your gallbladder.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.
  • If you feel very dizzy or faint, stop taking this medicine, lie down, and contact your doctor right away.

  • If you get swelling of your face, mouth, or throat along with itching and rash, stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately. This could be a severe allergic reaction.
  • Contact your doctor right away if your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow, your urine becomes dark, or your skin feels itchy, even if you have been taking this medicine for a while.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe, long-lasting diarrhea that causes significant weight loss.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
