How to Use

Dosage

Adults usually start with one 10 mg tablet once a day; your doctor may increase the dose to 20 mg or 40 mg daily if needed, or add other medicines. Children aged 6-18 also start with 10 mg daily; the dose can be increased up to 20 mg or 40 mg daily, but children under 35 kg should not exceed 20 mg per day. For patients with mild to moderate kidney problems, the dose should not exceed 20 mg once a day.

Method

Take the tablet with or without food. Swallow it whole with enough water, for example, a glass. Try to take your dose at the same time each day, preferably with breakfast.

Important

For most adults, the maximum daily dose is 40 mg. For children under 35 kg, the maximum daily dose is 20 mg. If you have mild to moderate kidney problems, your dose should not be more than 20 mg a day.

  • Nosebleeds (especially in children)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to olmesartan medoxomil or any other ingredients, or if you are more than 3 months pregnant (it's also best to avoid it in early pregnancy).
  • If you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren, do not take Olmesartan medoxomil Krka.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have yellowing of your skin or eyes (jaundice) or problems with the flow of bile from your gallbladder (e.g., gallstones).
  • If you experience swelling of your face, mouth, or throat, severe dizziness, or fainting, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other blood pressure medicines (especially ACE inhibitors or aliskiren), potassium supplements, lithium, anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs), or cholestyramine, or if you have kidney or liver disease, heart problems, severe vomiting, diarrhea, or adrenal gland issues.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
