How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your specific dose and how long you will receive it, based on your body's needs.

Method

This medicine is given as a liquid through a tube (catheter) directly into a large vein, usually in your chest.

Important

One bag of medicine is typically given over 12 to 24 hours, and your doctor will set your maximum daily amount.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Decreased appetite
  • Increased fat levels in blood
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • High blood pressure
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, including sweating, fever, chills, headache, rash, itching, hot flashes, or trouble breathing.
  • Infusion leaking outside the vein, causing pain, irritation, swelling, redness, warmth, skin damage, or blisters.
  • Vomiting.
  • Fat overload syndrome, where your body has trouble processing fats, with symptoms like fever, pale skin, weakness, trouble breathing (anemia), increased risk of infection (low white blood cells), easy bruising or bleeding (low platelets), blood clotting problems, very high fat levels in your blood, fat buildup in your liver, liver problems, or coma.
  • Abnormal liver blood tests, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), enlarged liver, liver disease related to intravenous feeding, or small particles blocking lung blood vessels, causing breathing difficulties.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Olimel N9 for premature babies, infants, or children under 2 years old.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to egg, soy, peanut, or corn proteins, or any other ingredients in it.
  • Stop the infusion right away if you have signs of an allergic reaction, like sweating, fever, chills, headache, rash, or trouble breathing.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious liver or kidney problems, blood clotting issues, heart failure, lung disease, uncontrolled high blood sugar, or an infection.
  • This medicine must not be given too fast, as it can cause serious harm.

  • Olimel N9 should not be given through the same tube as blood, ampicillin (an antibiotic), or fosphenytoin (an epilepsy medicine).
  • If the infusion site hurts, turns red, or swells, stop the infusion immediately.
  • Do not connect multiple bags together, as this can cause a dangerous air bubble in your blood.
