How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the dose and infusion rate based on your individual needs and condition.

Method

This medicine is given as an infusion into a large vein in your chest through a tube (catheter). It should be at room temperature when given.

Important

An infusion of one bag usually lasts 12-24 hours. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose set by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Decreased appetite
  • High fat levels in the blood
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • High blood pressure
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, including sweating, fever, chills, rash, and breathing difficulties
  • Infusion leakage outside the vein (extravasation), leading to pain, swelling, or tissue damage
  • Vomiting
  • Fat overload syndrome, causing sudden worsening of health with symptoms like fever, blood cell changes, liver problems, or coma
  • Abnormal liver function tests or yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice)

Important Warnings

  • Do not give to premature babies, newborns, or children under 2 years of age.
  • Inform your doctor if you are allergic to egg, soy, peanut protein, or corn products.
  • Stop the infusion immediately if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as sweating, fever, chills, headache, rash, or difficulty breathing.
  • Do not mix or give with certain antibiotics (like ceftriaxone) or blood products through the same infusion line. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking.
  • Report any pain, burning, swelling, or leakage at the infusion site to your doctor or nurse immediately.
