How to Use

Dosage

One spray in each nostril (total 300 micrograms) when bleeding starts or half an hour before a medical procedure.

Method

First, blow your nose. Take off the cap. Check that the tube inside the bottle is in the liquid. If you haven't used the spray in 3 days, press the pump 2-6 times until a fine spray comes out. Put the tip into one nostril and spray once. Breathe normally. If you need more doses, spray into the other nostril next. Put the cap back on when done.

Important

The dose can be repeated every 12 hours for a maximum of 2-3 days.

Important Warnings

  • Be careful if you have problems with your body's fluid balance or if there's a risk of too much fluid in your brain.
  • Drink only enough to quench your thirst, no more than 1.5 liters (about 6 glasses) per day for adults.
  • Call your doctor or go to the hospital if you bleed a lot or if Octostim doesn't work right away.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, especially for depression, epilepsy, diabetes, or certain pain relievers, as they can cause your body to hold too much fluid when used with Octostim.
