Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to heparin or if it has caused a drop in your platelet count before.
  • Do not use if you have an IgA deficiency and have developed IgA antibodies.
  • Talk to a doctor specializing in blood clotting if you need Octaplex.
  • If you have a bleeding disorder caused by certain medications, this medicine should only be used for severe bleeding or emergency surgery. Often, vitamin K or a lower dose of your current medication is enough.

  • If you are taking a blood thinner like warfarin, using Octaplex might increase your risk of blood clots.
  • If you have an allergic reaction, the doctor will stop the infusion right away and treat you.
  • Using Octaplex, especially regularly, can cause a serious condition where blood clots form throughout your body. Your doctor will monitor you for signs of this.
  • This medicine is made from human blood. Even with safety measures, there's a very small chance of getting an infection from unknown or new viruses.
  • The name and batch number of this medicine should be recorded each time you receive a dose to help track it.
  • You may need vaccinations for hepatitis A and B if you use this medicine regularly.
