How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the exact dose based on your needs. For adults, usually up to 25 ml of infusion per kg of body weight per day.

Method

The medicine is given as an infusion (drip) directly into a large vein through a small tube. The solution should always be warmed to room temperature before administration.

Important

For adults, the maximum daily dose is 25 ml per kg of body weight. For children, the doctor will determine the dose based on specific guidelines.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite.
  • Abnormally large amounts of urine (polyuria).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to Nutriflex special or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have a special amino acid metabolism problem that requires a very specific diet.
  • Do not use if your blood sugar is too high and needs more than 6 units of insulin per hour to control.
  • Do not use if you have too much acid in your blood (acidosis).
  • Do not use if you have bleeding inside your skull or spinal cord.

  • Do not use if you have severe liver failure.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney failure and are not getting dialysis.
  • Do not use if you are in the acute phase of a heart attack or stroke.
  • Do not use if you have a poorly controlled metabolic problem, like an unexplained coma, not enough oxygen to your tissues, or poorly controlled diabetes.
  • Do not use if you have life-threatening circulation problems, such as shock, fluid in your lungs, or severe fluid imbalance.
  • Nutriflex special should not be given to babies or children under 2 years old.
  • Talk to your doctor or nurse if you have weak heart or kidney function.
  • Talk to your doctor or nurse if you have problems with your fluid, salt, or acid-base balance, such as too little fluid and salt in your body or low sodium or potassium levels in your blood.
  • Talk to your doctor or nurse if your blood sugar is unusually high.
