How to Use
Dosage
Up to 40 ml of infusion fluid per kg of body weight daily.
Method
The medicine is given as an infusion (drip) directly into a vein through a small tube.
Important
Maximum of 40 ml per kg of body weight per day.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Irritation or inflammation of the vein where the medicine is given (phlebitis, thrombophlebitis).
RARE
- •Nausea, vomiting, and reduced appetite.
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredients in this medicine.
- Do not use if you have a special problem with how your body uses amino acids.
- Do not use if your blood sugar is very high and needs a lot of insulin (more than 6 units per hour) to control.
- Do not use if you have bleeding inside your head or spinal cord.
- Do not use if your blood has too much acid (acidosis).

- Do not use if you have severe liver failure.
- Do not use if you have severe kidney failure and are not receiving artificial kidney treatment (dialysis).
- Do not use if you are in the acute phase of a heart attack or stroke.
- Do not use if you have a severe metabolic disorder that is not well-controlled, or life-threatening blood circulation problems (like shock or fluid in lungs).
- This medicine should not be given to newborns, infants, or children under 2 years of age.
