Method

This medicine is given as a drip (infusion) directly into a large vein through a small tube.

Important

The recommended infusion time for one nutrition bag is a maximum of 24 hours.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic reactions like skin rashes, shortness of breath, swelling of the lips, mouth, or throat, and difficulty breathing.
COMMON
  • Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite.
RARE
  • Increased tendency to form blood clots.
  • Bluish discoloration of the skin.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Headache.
  • Flushing.
  • Redness of the skin.
  • Sweating.
  • Chills.
  • Feeling cold.
  • High body temperature.
  • Drowsiness.
  • Pain in the chest, back, bones, or pelvic area.
  • Drop or rise in blood pressure.
RARE
  • Unusually high blood fat or blood sugar levels.
  • High levels of acidic substances in the blood.
  • Fat overload syndrome (symptoms usually disappear when infusion is stopped).
  • Low number of white blood cells (leukopenia).
  • Low number of platelets (thrombocytopenia).
  • Reduced bile flow (cholestasis).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to the active ingredients, eggs, peanuts, soybeans, fish, or any other component of this medicine.
  • This medicine should not be given to newborns, infants, or children under 2 years old.
  • Do not use if you have life-threatening circulation problems, a heart attack, stroke, severe blood clotting disorder, blood clots, severe liver failure, poor bile flow, or severe kidney failure not treated with dialysis.
  • Do not use if you have electrolyte imbalances, too much or too little body fluid, fluid in the lungs, severe heart failure, certain metabolic disorders (like too much fat in blood, high blood sugar needing high insulin doses, or too much acid in blood).
  • Your condition will be closely monitored for early signs of allergic reactions, such as fever, chills, rash, or shortness of breath.
