Important

The maximum daily amount will be set by your child's doctor to make sure it meets their needs without causing any problems.

Possible Side Effects

  • Soft tissue damage

Important Warnings

  • Do not give this medicine if your child is allergic to egg protein, soy, peanuts, corn starch products, or any part of the glucose or amino acid solutions in Numeta G19E.
  • Do not give if your child's body cannot properly use protein building blocks or has very high levels of certain salts (electrolytes) or sugar in their blood.
  • If all three solutions are mixed, do not give if your child has very high fat levels in their blood.
  • Stop the infusion right away and tell the doctor or nurse if your child shows signs of an allergic reaction, such as fever, sweating, chills, headache, skin rash, or trouble breathing.
  • This medicine should not be mixed or given at the same time as certain antibiotics called ceftriaxone, even through separate lines, due to risk of harmful particles forming.
Show 7 more warnings
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if your child has trouble breathing, as this could mean small particles are blocking blood vessels in their lungs.
  • The doctor will closely watch your child for any signs of infection, as giving nutrition through a vein can sometimes lead to infections or blood poisoning.
  • Be cautious if your child has fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema), heart failure, severe liver or kidney problems, severe metabolic disorders, or blood clotting issues.
  • This medicine should not be given with blood using the same drip set, or with ampicillin, fosphenytoin, or furosemide through the same line, due to risks of clumping or particle formation.
  • Numeta G19E contains potassium. High potassium levels can cause abnormal heart rhythms. The doctor will be careful if your child is taking certain medicines like diuretics, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, or medicines that lower the immune system, as these can increase potassium.
  • Do not use this medicine if the bag is damaged or if the solutions inside look cloudy or have particles before mixing.
  • Your child's fluid balance and blood levels will be checked regularly to avoid problems like swelling (fluid retention) or changes in blood chemistry.
