How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 12, the usual starting dose is 1 inhalation (400 micrograms) once or twice daily. For children aged 5-12, the usual starting dose is 1 inhalation (400 micrograms) once daily.

Method

Inhale the medicine as instructed by your doctor. To prevent fungal infections in your mouth and throat and hoarseness, take the inhalation before meals and/or rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth after each use. If taking once a day, it's best to take it in the evening.

Important

Adults and children over 12 should not take more than 1600 micrograms (4 inhalations) per day. Children aged 5-12 should not take more than 800 micrograms (2 inhalations) per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Throat irritation
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Hoarseness
  • Cough
  • Fungal infections in the mouth and throat
RARE
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Feeling worried
  • Cataracts (cloudy lens in the eye)
  • Muscle spasms
  • Shaking (tremor)
  • Blurred vision
  • Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity)
  • Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, mouth, and throat (angioedema)
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
  • Reduced adrenal gland function
  • Slowed growth in children and teenagers
  • Restlessness
  • Nervousness
  • Unusual behavior, hyperactivity or irritability (more likely in children)
  • Skin reactions such as hives, rash, local skin inflammation (dermatitis), itching, red skin due to blood vessel dilation, or bruising
  • Voice changes and hoarseness (in children)
  • Lung spasms (paradoxical bronchospasm), which may appear as sudden worsening of breathing and increased wheezing right after taking the medicine. If this happens, stop using the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Weak bones (osteoporosis)
  • Sleep problems
  • Aggression
  • Strong urge to be physically active with mental restlessness (psychomotor hyperactivity)
  • Glaucoma (green star, eye pressure disease)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Novopulmon Novolizer for sudden breathing difficulties or severe, continuous asthma attacks.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to budesonide or milk proteins found in the lactose in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor before using this medicine, especially if you have blurred vision or other eye problems.
  • Be extra careful if you have or have had lung tuberculosis, fungal infections in your airways, or any other respiratory infection. Ask your doctor for advice.
  • Always carry a fast-acting inhaler (like salbutamol) to relieve sudden asthma symptoms.
