How to Use

Dosage

Typically 1-2 doses (200-400 micrograms) 1-2 times a day, or as directed by your doctor.

Method

Inhale the medicine using the Novolizer inhaler. Rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth after each use to prevent fungal infections.

Important

Maximum 1600 micrograms per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Sore throat, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness, and cough.
  • Fungal infections in the mouth and throat (oral thrush).
  • Feeling sad (depression), anxious or worried.
  • Cataracts (clouding of the eye lens).
  • Muscle cramps, shaking (tremors), blurred vision.
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, eyes, lips, mouth, and throat (angioedema), or a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).
  • Problems with adrenal gland function, or slowed growth in children and adolescents.
  • Restlessness, nervousness, unusual behavior, hyperactivity, or irritability (more likely in children).
  • Skin reactions like hives (urticaria), rash, local skin inflammation (dermatitis), itching (pruritus), redness due to blood vessel dilation (erythema), bruising.
  • Voice disorders and hoarseness (in children).
  • Sudden worsening of breathing (paradoxical bronchospasm) right after inhalation. If this happens, stop use and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Weakening of bones (osteoporosis).
  • Sleep problems, aggression, feeling overly active and restless (psychomotor hyperactivity), or glaucoma (green star).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to budesonide or milk proteins.
  • This medicine is not for sudden, severe asthma attacks. Always carry your fast-acting asthma reliever.
  • Tell your doctor if you have lung tuberculosis, fungal infections in your airways, or other respiratory infections.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other eye problems.
  • If you have severe liver disease, tell your doctor, as the medicine's effect may be stronger.

  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first, as your condition might worsen.
