How to Use

Dosage

Adults usually take 1–2 tablets three times a day.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth, exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor has prescribed.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Severe skin reactions, like a serious rash with blisters (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, or acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis).
  • Problems with blood cell counts (too few platelets, white blood cells, or all blood cells).
  • Allergic reactions, including serious ones.
  • Feeling confused, seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations), or feeling restless.
  • Dizziness or trembling.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Fast heartbeat.
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), constipation, or dry mouth.
  • Liver problems.
  • Rash, itchy bumps (hives), or sudden swelling in the skin or other body parts.
  • Trouble passing urine (urinary retention).
  • A serious condition where your blood becomes too acidic (metabolic acidosis), especially if you are very sick and taking paracetamol.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Norgesic if you are allergic to orphenadrine citrate, paracetamol, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take Norgesic if you have severe stomach or bowel blockages, ulcers, or inflammation.
  • Do not take Norgesic if you have an enlarged prostate, trouble urinating, high eye pressure (glaucoma), or severe muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis).
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Norgesic if you have a fast or irregular heartbeat, or heart failure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an enlarged colon.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, are malnourished, have Gilbert's syndrome, a specific enzyme deficiency (G6PD deficiency), a blood disorder (hemolytic anemia), or a history of alcohol problems.
  • Do not take other medicines that contain paracetamol at the same time. Taking too much paracetamol can cause very serious liver damage.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines that affect your liver.
  • Tell your doctor if you are elderly.
  • Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Norgesic.
  • Norgesic is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a baby.
  • Norgesic can make you less alert. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy or your vision is blurred.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
