How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose depends on your medical condition; a typical starting dose is 0.4 mg to 0.8 mg per hour, and your doctor will adjust it as needed.

Method

This medicine is given in the hospital by a doctor or nurse. It is diluted and administered as a continuous infusion into a vein.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined by your doctor based on your blood pressure response and medical needs.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Sudden itchy rash (hives), swelling of hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth or throat (which may cause difficulty swallowing or breathing), dizziness.
  • Pain and/or swelling at the injection site.
  • Anxiety, difficulty sleeping, confusion, weakness, or a psychotic state.
  • Headache, tremors.
  • Increased pressure in the eye (acute glaucoma).
  • Slow or fast heart rate, abnormal heart rhythm (your heart beats too fast, too slow, or unevenly), or changes in your heart's electrical activity (ECG).
  • Cardiogenic shock (a life-threatening condition where your heart suddenly can't pump enough blood for your body).
  • Heart muscle weakness from severe physical or mental stress, heart palpitations, stronger heart contractions, or sudden heart failure.
  • High blood pressure, reduced oxygen supply to some organs.
  • Poor blood circulation in your hands and feet (may cause cold limbs, paleness, and/or pain).
  • Local tissue damage (death of tissue).
  • Decreased blood plasma volume.
  • Breathing difficulties.
  • Nausea (stomach discomfort often with the urge to vomit), vomiting.
  • Paleness, skin scarring, bluish skin, hot flashes, skin redness, rash, hives, or itching.
  • Urinary retention (inability to completely empty the bladder).
  • Reactions at the injection site (pain, redness, inflammation), vein irritation from the injection, including pain, inflammation, swelling, and clotting.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to noradrenaline or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure caused by too little blood volume.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure.

  • Tell your doctor if you have heart rhythm problems (too fast, too slow, or irregular heartbeat), as you may need a lower dose.
  • Tell your doctor if you are elderly.
  • If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine, as it may harm the fetus. Breastfeeding is usually not recommended.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery while under the influence of this medicine.
