How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 25 micrograms daily for women and 50 micrograms daily for men, taken one hour before bedtime.

Method

Place the tablet under your tongue and let it dissolve without water; do not chew or swallow the tablet.

Important

Do not take more than your prescribed dose in a 24-hour period (25 micrograms for women, 50 micrograms for men).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea, feeling unwell, muscle weakness, and confusion, caused by low sodium in the blood.
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea
RARE
  • Constipation
  • Stomach ache
  • Weakness (fatigue)
  • Swelling in legs and feet (peripheral edema)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Nocdurna if you are allergic to desmopressin or any other ingredient, if you have severe thirst (polydipsia), heart failure, moderate to severe kidney problems, low blood sodium, or a specific hormone disorder (SIADH).
  • Limit your fluid intake for at least one hour before and eight hours after taking this medicine to prevent serious side effects like seizures.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Nocdurna if you are over 65, have severe bladder problems, low blood sodium, or other conditions affecting your fluid balance.
  • Stop taking Nocdurna and contact a doctor or seek emergency care immediately if you experience unusually severe headache, confusion, unexplained weight gain, nausea, vomiting, or seizures.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Risk of fluid retention and hyponatraemia. Treatment of ADH deficiency can be started under specialist supervision. (updated 6.11.2023)
