Nizoral shampoo contains ketoconazole and is used to treat and prevent fungal and yeast infections on the skin and scalp in adults and teenagers.
For flaky, reddish-brown patches on face/chest or dandruff: use twice a week for 2-4 weeks. To prevent recurrence, use once a week or every other week. For small, brownish/light spots on body (pityriasis versicolor): use once a day for 1 day.
Wash affected skin areas and hair with Nizoral shampoo. Let it work for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. A palmful of shampoo is usually enough for one wash.
Do not use more than once a day for 1 day.
Topical treatment: Suitable for older adults. In topical use, there is absorption through mucous membranes and broken skin. Consider the risk of interactions. (updated 11.9.2023)
