How to Use

Dosage

Dosage is individual. For angina attacks, 2.5–10 mg. To prevent angina, start with 5–10 mg, which can be increased to 20–40 mg 3-4 times daily. For heart failure, 100–160 mg per day divided into 2-3 doses.

Method

For angina attacks, chew tablets for absorption in the mouth. For angina prevention and heart failure, swallow tablets whole. Take the medicine while sitting or lying down, especially for angina attacks. The tablet can be divided.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 160 mg, divided into 2-4 doses depending on the condition.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Nitrosid if you are allergic to isosorbide dinitrate, other similar medicines (organic nitrates), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure, severe heart valve or heart muscle diseases, fluid around the heart (tamponade), or heart shock.
  • Do not take if you have severe untreated anemia, acute circulation problems, or high pressure inside your skull.
  • Do not take if you are using medicines for erectile dysfunction (like sildenafil, vardenafil, tadalafil) or riociguat, as this combination can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Nitrosid if you have recently had a heart attack, heart failure, or certain lung diseases that cause low oxygen in your blood.

  • Nitrosid can increase the effect of other blood pressure-lowering medicines and alcohol, leading to a significant drop in blood pressure. It may also increase pressure in the head and eyes (in glaucoma patients).
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or use machines that require focus.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Consider reduced blood pressure and the risk of fainting due to orthostatic hypotonia. Need for long-acting product should be assessed regularly. (updated 19.5.2025)
