How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose individually. For angina pectoris attacks, typically 2.5–10 mg. For prevention, 5–10 mg, which can be increased to 20–40 mg 3–4 times daily. For heart failure, 100–160 mg daily, divided into 2–3 doses.

Method

For angina pectoris attacks, chew the tablets and let them dissolve in your mouth, preferably while sitting or lying down. For prevention and heart failure, swallow the tablets whole.

Important

The maximum daily dose can be up to 160 mg, as directed by your doctor.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to isosorbide dinitrate, other nitrates, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure, certain severe heart conditions (e.g., cardiac tamponade, cardiogenic shock), or acute circulatory problems.
  • Do not use if you are taking medicines for erectile dysfunction (e.g., sildenafil, vardenafil, tadalafil) or the pulmonary hypertension medicine riociguat, as combining them can be life-threatening.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have recently had a heart attack, heart failure, or a lung disease that causes low oxygen levels.
  • Drinking alcohol while taking Nitrosid can lower your blood pressure too much.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A
