How to Use

Dosage

1 sublingual tablet (0.5 mg) as needed.

Method

Place the tablet under your tongue. If possible, take it while sitting or lying down to help prevent dizziness if your blood pressure drops.

Important

Maximum 3 tablets within 15 minutes.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache (often at the start of treatment, usually goes away in a few weeks).
  • Drowsiness, mild dizziness, weakness, low blood pressure, fast heartbeat, temporary facial redness.
RARE
  • Worsening chest pain.
  • Burning sensation in the skin.
  • Nausea.
  • Allergic skin reactions.
  • Fainting.
  • Slow heart rate.
  • Vomiting.
  • Tooth decay.
  • Blue lips (due to low oxygen in the blood).
  • Severe skin rash with inflammation and peeling.
  • Lack of oxygen in the heart muscle for patients with coronary artery disease.
  • Tingling or burning sensation in the mouth or throat.
  • Hot flashes.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to glyceryl trinitrate, nitrates, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe anemia (very low red blood cells) or severe dehydration.
  • Do not use if you are taking medicines for erectile dysfunction, such as sildenafil, vardenafil, or tadalafil.
  • Do not use if you have fluid around your heart (cardiac tamponade) or inflammation of the heart sac (constrictive pericarditis).
  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure.

  • Do not use if you have a heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy).
  • Do not use if you have recently had a severe head injury or a brain bleed.
  • Avoid alcohol, as it can increase the blood pressure-lowering effect of this medicine.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine. Do not use while breastfeeding.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or operate machines. Be careful.
  • Do not give to children under 15 years old, unless a doctor tells you to.
