How to Use

Dosage

For hereditary tyrosinemia type 1, the usual dose is 1 mg per kg of body weight daily. For AKU, the recommended dose is 10 mg once daily. Your doctor will adjust your dose.

Method

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. You can take it once a day. If you weigh less than 20 kg, your daily dose might be split into two. If you have trouble swallowing capsules, you can open them and mix the contents with a small amount of water, apple juice, applesauce, or liquid formula right before taking. Always take with food if you start that way.

The maximum daily dose for hereditary tyrosinemia type 1 is usually 1 mg per kg of body weight. For AKU, it is 10 mg per day. Your doctor will determine the correct dose for you.

Important Warnings

  • You will have regular blood tests to check if the treatment is working and to monitor for side effects.
  • If you are taking this for hereditary tyrosinemia type 1, your liver will be checked regularly because the disease affects the liver.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, as Nitisinone Dipharma can affect some epilepsy and blood-thinning medicines.
