How to Use

Dosage

Method

The medicine is given as a continuous drip into a vein, usually through a central line, using a special pump.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Low blood pressure, widening of blood vessels
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Allergic reactions, rash
  • Low number of platelets in the blood (which help with clotting)
RARE
  • Symptoms at the injection or infusion site, such as vein inflammation or blood clots in the vein
  • Temporary increase in liver enzyme levels (seen in blood tests)
  • Blocked intestine
  • Slow heartbeat

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Nimotop if you are allergic to nimodipine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, kidney failure, or low blood pressure.
  • Inform your doctor if you have swelling in your brain or increased pressure in your head.
  • Mention to your doctor if you have unstable chest pain (angina) or have had a heart attack in the last 4 weeks.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines that can harm your kidneys, such as certain antibiotics (aminoglycosides, cephalosporins) or furosemide.

  • This medicine contains alcohol. Be careful if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, a child, or have liver disease or epilepsy.
  • This medicine contains sodium. If you are on a low-sodium diet, discuss this with your doctor.
  • Nimotop can increase the effects of other blood pressure medicines. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, especially those for blood pressure or erectile dysfunction.
  • Nimotop should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Breastfeeding is not recommended while using this medicine.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness, which could affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be careful.
