How to Use

Dosage

Take one lozenge when you feel a strong urge to smoke, usually one lozenge every one to two hours.

Method

Do not swallow the lozenge. Suck until you feel a strong taste. Let the lozenge rest between your cheek and gum. When the taste fades, start sucking again. Repeat until the lozenge is completely dissolved (about 30 minutes).

Important

The maximum daily dose for 1 mg lozenges is 24 lozenges. Do not use more than one lozenge per hour.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to nicotine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you do not smoke.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any heart problems (e.g., recent heart attack, irregular heartbeat, heart failure, or chest pain). If your heart problems get worse, reduce or stop using this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have had a stroke, high blood pressure, or circulation problems.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have diabetes. Monitor your blood sugar levels more often, as your need for insulin or other medicines might change.

  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have an overactive thyroid, adrenal gland tumor, kidney or liver disease, inflammation of the esophagus, mouth, throat, stomach or stomach ulcers, or if you have had epilepsy.
  • Nicotinell Mint is not for use by adolescents aged 12-17 unless prescribed by a healthcare professional. Nicotinell Mint must be kept out of sight and reach of children, as even small amounts of nicotine can cause severe poisoning or death in young children. Nicotinell Mint is not for children under 12 years.
  • It is very important to stop smoking during pregnancy. If you cannot stop without nicotine replacement therapy, only use Nicotinell Mint after talking to a healthcare professional.
  • Nicotinell Mint should be avoided during breastfeeding, as nicotine passes into breast milk and can affect your baby. If a healthcare professional recommends its use, take the lozenge immediately after breastfeeding or at least two hours before the next feed.
